Rip Curl has again created a technological world-first by capturing full-tilt surfing action using a “30 camera Array” — a line of cameras firing consistently as surfers ride towards and past it. The results are unique “frozen moments of time” – that can be viewed in a combination of angles for a true in the round perspective. Rip Curl and TimeSlice, partners in the overall development, used GoPro HD video cameras to freeze an infinite number of moments that could be viewed. The major benefit being a better way of catching all the performance surfing the Rip Curl team riders were doing, rather than just a fraction of it. Combining our world class surf team of Mick Fanning, Owen Wright, Matt Wilkinson, Dillon Perillo and Dean Brady with the multi-frame array of cameras, gave us a Matrix style suite of “Mirage Moments”, which pull the viewer in to the image, stalling there for long enough to enjoy a great move, before travelling down the line through the footage to the next Mirage Moment. www.facebook.com To mark the start of summer, Strongbow joined forces with legendary surfing filmmaker Jack McCoy (Endless Summer II), Bali Strickland and Eugene Tan (Aquabumps) to capture Australia’s largest glow in the dark surf attempt at Bondi Beach. On summer’s eve, 17 Strongbow surfers descended on Bondi Beach in custom made glow-in-the-dark surfboards and wetsuits as an official “welcome to summer” for Strongbow. Channel 10′s Bondi Rescue lifeguards, Corey Oliver and Andrew Reid, were among the surfers taking part. Dave Rastovich has had the privilege of travelling the world as a professional freesurfer. In Rasta’s travels he has been exposed to the worlds most breath taking wonders as well as the contrasting destructions that man has carried out. Driven by his personal beliefs and convictions Rasta is far more than just a surfer and devotes large portion of his time to combatting the ever growing issue of ocean pollution and the affects it has on it’s inhabitants. Like the great Steve Erwin and as fruity as it sounds Rasta is somewhat of a wildlife warrior and will continue to fight for the protection of all marine life.

This is the original video of the infamous surfing geese. I was filming some kayakers surfing at the Glenwood Springs Whitewater Park when I saw this group of geese floating toward the wave. Their technique is actually pretty good; beginning surfers could learn a lot. This was taken 6/7/11 at a 27-year high flow of 25500 cfs. Since so many have expressed concern over the geese, it seemed to me like they were all okay when they washed out at the bottom.
